Welcome to Wise, Wealthy Women! Join me and other wise, wealthy women as we travel down the road to financial independence and grown into our name. Along the way we'll explode some myths, cover the basics, and explore finanical strategies you can use to comfortably and confidently take control of your financial future.

Why a special site for women? That's easy. Not only are we really special, but we tend to have different life experiences and beliefs, and different motivations and behaviors than men when it comes to money. And, let's face it -- when we were growing up -- most of us never seriously thought that we would be responsible for our own financial well-being someday so we didn't give it a lot of thought. Now here we are in 2010 and things are tough and/or scary. It's more important than ever to have a firm grasp on our finances. And here are some statistics that point out why it is so important today 

  • Almost 90% of us will be totally responsible for our finances at some point in our lives.
  • We generally earn less than men -- on average, 23% less for the same job!
  • We generally live longer than men -- on average, seven years longer.  
  • So we need to somehow do more with less. Sadly, 70% of women over age 70 are living below the poverty level.  

But this doesn't have to be your fate! Join Wise, Wealthy Women (W3) and grow your wealth as you grow your money management skills.

I'm Patricia Stallworth the director of Wise, Wealthy Women and I'm so excited to be your guide on this virtual roal trip. Taking control and achieving financial independence is not extremely difficult but there are steps you can follow to make the process easier, and there are always new things to learn along the way. My goal is to make this a fun trip that includes a real prize at the end -- an understanding of what it takes to become financially independent. In addition to being the president/CEO of PS Worth, a planning and advisory firm, I am a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), a Certified Divorce Planner (CDFA), a former business consultant and teacher, so expect a mix of topics and possibly even some homework that I whole-heartedly encourge you to complere. Hey, financial independence requires work! And, like most things, you get out of it what you put into it. Now, fasten your seat belts and let's get started!
